Description |
Asia Pacific Executive Leadership’s SSI Course is an MOM-accredited, practical, interactive course on Basic Workplace Safety and Health that uses case studies, group discussions, lectures and audio-visual presentations to equip shipyard workers with the best knowledge on good safety and health practices. |

Course objectives |
· to allow participants to be able to recognize their roles and duties in the prevention of fires and explosions in shipyard work · to ingrain the preventive measures to be taken to ensure that painting works are done safely. |

Note: Employers who fail to ensure that their workers take and pass the SSIC will be barred from applying for new Work Permits for three months, while the affected workers will have their work permits revoked. |

Q: I’ve been a shipyard worker in my country for many years. Do I really need to take the Shipyard Safety Instruction Course?
A: Yes, you still need to take the Shipyard Safety Instruction Course. Not doing so would mean that your Work Permit will get revoked and you will be sent home.
Q: Is the course fee separate from the exam fee?
A: No. The SSIC price ($40), already includes the course fee and the exam fee. The price will be the same whether or not you need to attend the course, so you might as well get your money’s worth by asking us for the course schedule. You can also ask us how you and your colleagues can get a discount.
Q: I failed the exam. What’s going to happen to me?
A: You would need to attend the course and re-take the exam. A separate fee of $40 will be charged for the course and exam re-take.
Q: What do I need to bring for the course / exam?
A: Please do not forget to bring the following:
1. Your Work Pass and/or Passport
2. A photocopy of your Work Pass / Passport
3. A recent photo
4. The course payment
Q: I don’t know where 26 Horne Road is. Are there any landmarks to help me find the place?
A: We are located 50 metres from the Lavender MRT station, across the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Building.
Q: I passed the exam. When can I claim my Shipyard Safety Pass?
A: You can claim your Shipyard Safety Pass one day after your exam date.
